The originality of this mill lies in the use of a horizontal paddle wheel, which is apparently unique in the Valais. The Mase wheat and bread brotherhood now uses the Mase mill for the traditional baking of rye bread.

Perched at 2’200 metres above sea level, the Tracouet Lake also known as the « Lac Noir (Black Lake) » due to the dark colour of the water.
