It was founded in the 1899th by the British colonial government, as a railroad station between Mombasa and Uganda. It became the capital of British East Africa in 1907., and it is the capital of independent Kenya since 1963. Nairobi was the center of industry of coffee, tea and sisal fibers during the colonial time.
