The “Kaunerberger Wasserweg” has been assuring the irrigation of fields, orchards and gardens at Kauns and Kaunerberg for over 60 years now. The 12 kilometer long irrigation system fetches water from the Gallrutt glacier and leads it via a channel and two tunnels along the mountain slope towards the village Kaunerberg. This hiking trail follows a part of this channel system, including passing the almost 1000 meter long Gallrutt tunnel.
