Try this 8.5-km circular trail near Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Haute-Savoie. Generally considered a challenging route. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. You’ll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren’t allowed on this trail.
A popular hike in the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve, on the heights of the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ski resort. This trail starts at the site of La Flègère, which you can reach by cable car (paying) or on foot from Chamonix. This mountain route takes you to the lakes of Chéserys, as well as to Lac Blanc (white lake), via a balcony path. You will have a magnificent view of the Mont-Blanc massif at Lac Blanc. It’s possible to do this route clockwise or counterclockwise.
An incredible route. Completed without spikes/poles despite the snow (there were also school trips up there without specialist equipment and some children in fashion trainers so definitely doable!) We completed the route in reverse which seems to be a lot more common. The descent between Lac Blanc and Lac de Cheserys is very steep and covered in snow so if you’re worried about slipping then I’d recommend just doing an out and back to Lac Blanc for now.
