Built before 1430, the bisse of Torrent-Neuf (also called bisse of Savièse) was once the most daring irrigation project of its kind. It was sourced from the river Morge, leaving its gorge by a very precipitous and undulating route, and it provided an abundant supply of water. Our suggested walk covers an elevated path which has been newly restored. The purpose of this type of refurbishment work is to remind us of the scope of the task undertaken by our ancestors.

A part of this fairly challenging circular hike follows the bisse Mont d’Orge. First you climb up the mountain Mont d’Orge where the ruins of Mont d’Orge Castle and the statue of Notre Dame are located. On the way to the glittering lake of Mont d’Orge, you will experience great views over the Rhône Valley and the city of Sion.

An old marble quarry at an altitude of 1000 meters is located above the town of Saillon in the Rhone valley in Valais (Wallis). Hiking towards this marble quarry goes via a path through vineyards and a forest. The marble quarry was in use from 1832 until its cessation in 1975 and produced the famous (and expensive) cipolin marble used in for example the paris opera building.

Over millennia, the Salvesen stream in Tarrenz, has dug an impressive gorge in the rocks. The approximately 5-kilometer-long, family-friendly hiking trail is a special nature experience.

The ascent to the Simmering Alm (1,820 m) is worth every season. The panoramic view at the Inntal valley from the over 1800-meter-high alp is incomparably beautiful.

The ruin Kronburg is one of the most beautiful places in Tyrol and is a popular hiking destination in the Oberland. Already when you drive on the motorway towards Landeck, you can see it at the narrowest point of the Inn Valley on a striking mountain peak enthroned. On the green saddle below the ruin stand the monastery Kronburg with inn and the pilgrimage church next to it.

Nice, easy walk, slightly longer than 13 km, with a lot of variety. Along the way there are various options for a break, at the easily accessible viewpoint, or on the terraces of the restaurants next to the two beautiful mountain lakes.

This hiking trail to the Frischmannhütte is, combined with the high-altitude trail on the Köfler Waalweg, full of scenic highlights. From the mountaintop Schartle, you have fantastic views at the mountain tops Fundusfeiler and Blockkogel, which give the Fundustal valley a worthy frame. The way back should be considered despite the slight counter climb over the Hintere Fundusalm, which is also a wonderful stop.
